Michelle “Mush” Lee, Ed.M., is a poet and cultural strategist who uses poetry to preserve the water of her story in this American desert. Mush was appointed to be part of the City of Oakland’s re-vitalized Cultural Affairs Commission in 2020. In 2019, she was invited to serve as one of the 2019 Cultural Affairs Division’s Cultural Strategist-in-Government (CSIG), where she worked in City departments to infuse policy-making and practices with new creative and culturally-competent thinking and problem-solving to promote civic belonging and well-being.
Mush’s poetry and presentations have been featured on HBO, PBS, AfroPop, Stanford University, School of Medicine, SummitLA, National Asian American Theater Festival, and the Brave New Voices Festival. Mush is the founder and CEO of Whole Story Group, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in narrative strategies, team building, and organizational culture.
